"The Search for Social Identity Leads to 'Us' versus 'Them'"

IDENTITY

While reading this article, "The Search for Social Identity Leads to 'Us' versus 'Them", written by Michael A. Hogg, I was pretty confused and blown away! The information being shared about individuals' identities, social identities, and group settings was hard to wrap my head around at first. The more I read, the more I understood and what I thought to be extremely interesting was the fact that self-uncertainty was seen to be reduced by certain features of groups and social identities! While the information being shared was shocking, it did make sense. Reading about how self-uncertainty acts as a motivator for people to identify with a group and keep that identity as a main part of who they are is something I find myself doing, as well as my homies.
